Ms. Tidewater

She’s technically Krista, but also answers to Kay. She’s a thirtysomething, blue-eyed, red-haired, barely five-foot-tall Atlantic Canadian living in a city she likes with several cats she adores. She works in healthcare, and although she’s not in perfect health, she’s feeling okay right now.

She’s been around blogland for a decade. First there was LiveJournal, then her own domain. There was Seventy by Heart, then Ladybugs & Yarn, and now Tidewater Knits. She thinks that with Tidewater she’s finally found something that fits, and she plans to stick with it.

She’s a fibrecraft geek. She taught herself to knit several years ago and it was all downhill from there. She took to it like a fish to water and loves it best of all her hobbies, past and present. She’s not much of a designer but does dabble in it here and there. She also weaves on a rigid heddle loom, and spins on a lovely castle-style wheel.

She writes, and has more than seventy short stories to her name. She thinks in film before pictures, and pictures before words. She gets frustrated with her vocabulary, as it seems inadequate to transfer the film-images from brain to paper.

She’s an amateur photographer. She’s very much a beginner and knows little about what she’s doing, but enjoys it nonetheless.

She’s a self-proclaimed arts nerd and music creates film strips in her head. She’s a bit neurotic, a bit socially awkward, a bit too adept at negative self-talk, and she finds it hard to let go of the past.

She’s starting to believe that it’s not about finding yourself–it’s about creating yourself. She’s not much of an architect, but she’s working on it.

What else?

She avoids confrontation. Is an introvert. Can be a geeky, flailing fangirl. Loves rain, wind, and the moon. Adores early mornings. Names her plants. Appreciates diversity. Loves books. Collects journals. Travels whenever possible. Talks to her cats like they’re human. Eats carbs. Sings often. Loves tea. Misses England. Prefers autumn to summer, and sunrise to sunset. Finds it hard to make and keep friends. Doesn’t “do” crowds. Sets too-high expectations for herself. Dislikes sleeping in. Has a dictionary in her brain. Trusts and distrusts at the same time.

She’s a little odd, that one.
