FO: Tretta hat
Pattern: Tretta by Grumperina
Yarn: Fleece Artist something-or-other
Needles: 4.25 mm 16″ circ & DPNs
Oh, I love this hat. I was feeling a little frustrated about some knitter-related (yes, knitter, not knitting) things and this was just what I needed. Quick, but very satisfying. I used slightly heavier yarn than the pattern specified; I liked it as written and didn’t want to alter it, but I prefer my hats just a little less snug. The hat turned out a bit longer, too, of course, which is fine with me–winter’s coming, and with it, temps in the minus 40s.
I’m actually not really sure what the yarn is. I picked it out of a bin of random skeins of Fleece Artist labelled only with the brand, weight, and “odd lot”. It’s very similar to my BFL aran, only lighter, and the colourway looks like it might be Wine. Either way, it’s gorgeous, and I’m glad I went with amber beads rather than the clear glass ones I’d thought about first.
I didn’t block it. This is a minor miracle for me, but the texture was so nice I didn’t want to flatten it out. It’s wonderfully squishy. The only reason I might choose to lightly block at some point is because the purl stitches beside the M1-Ls are just a little looser than I’d like and could benefit from a little reshaping.
There are few patterns I plan to knit more than once, but this one’s on the list; I already have the yarn and beads picked out for the next one even though I won’t likely get to knit it until after the holidays.
And yes, this hat is all mine. I’ll get back to the gift knitting tomorrow.

Ooh! It’s beautiful.
The colours are really rich and autumnal and stuff.
Very lovely K.
