Stash cataloguing, etc.
I spent most of this morning taking yarn photos and adding entries to my Ravelry stash. The majority of it is catalogued there now; it’s nice to be able to scroll down the page and see what I have at a glance, without having to dig through (and mess up) storage containers.
After I’d finished the photoshoot, I looked at the calendar and realised that my mother’s birthday is in a week. So I pawed through books and did some stash-diving, and found a suitable gift idea. I chose one of the scarves from 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders; it’s a pattern I’ve knit before for myself, and when I showed off the FO several months ago my mother made some noise about wanting one for herself.
It calls for Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport, and although I have plenty of that in the stash, I’m double-stranding Cherry Tree Hill Supersock (in Sugar Maple, bought a couple of years ago when the colourway was new and not easy to find) instead; it’s knitting up dense but still pleasantly squishy on 3.75 mm needles.
Speaking of needles, I have new DPNs. I liked my first set of Pony Pearls so much that I snagged three more, in different sizes. I’ve tried metal and bamboo and rosewood and birch and all sorts of others, but I’ve liked none as much as I like these little pastel plastic needles.
I have a sock in self-patterning yarn on the pink needles right now, but I’m not allowing myself to work on it (or to continue on my red cabled hat) until I finished a pair of commissioned elbow-length black plain stockinette fingerless gloves. I’m sure the recipient will like them, but they’re a bit of a snore to knit.
By the time tomorrow’s over, all I want to have left is the hand and half-fingers of the second glove. I can finish on Friday, and block them over the weekend.
On a totally different note, I need to start going to bed earlier. I’m always sleepy around ten-thirty or eleven, but I rarely manage to make it to bed before my second wind kicks in, keeping me awake for another couple of hours–it doesn’t add up to a lot of sleep, if you consider that I’m always awake at the crack of dawn.
The cats are keeping the bed warm; I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if I shoved them over a little bit to make room for me.
Gosh, I thought I had lost you. Thank you for commenting on my blog! That yarn is nice and cheery.
Glad you got your new place (and blog!) sorted. Cats are sneaky they let you think they’re making room for you in the bed and then when you are asleep they start stretching out sideways and gradually pushing you off the side.
