Looms, and red cables.
Yesterday, as part of my ongoing attempt to make my furnishings & belongings fit into a single room, I completely rearranged again. This usually ends in a mixture of satisfaction and frustration, but this time the ghost of some long-dead interior designer must have been smiling on me or something. Not only does it all fit, it looks great. It’s packed, true, but in a cozy, productive, creative way. I don’t bemoan the lack of floor space–it’s not like I’m turning cartwheels in here (except the ones in my head).
It’s a pity the awful yellow-gold walls ruin the overall aesthetic. If they were almost any other colour (or even a pale spring yellow), I’d be 100% satisfied.
And now! A dilemma. Do I warp my loom with shiny deep purple and start the one woven holiday gift on my list, or do I warp it with various shades of pink–like the cherry blossoms on my bedspread–and weave myself a little bedside rug?
Perhaps I’ll start the rug. I only have two other active fibrecrafty works-in-progress at the moment; one is an exceptionally boring commissioned pair of black elbow-length fingerless gloves, and the other is a definitely-not-boring red gift hat.
It doesn’t look like much yet, but it’s going to be a version of Hermione’s cable & bobble hat from the Prisoner of Azkaban film. I’m using the pattern from Charmed Knits, and I plan to knit the matching mittens, too.
Did any of you see the preview for the winter issue of Knotions? The issue’s set to go live sometime today, and some of the knits look interesting. I like the Magic Mirror mittens, in particular, but my brain likes them in silvery-grey rather than light green.
Now, I’m off to make something hot to drink (I’m almost out of my Second Cup caramel apple cider mix–nooo!), plan lunch, and warp my loom for… something.
Pamper yourself - definitely do the rug!
